How does a person become a king?  Well, after a kingdom is established, one becomes a king by being born the son of a king. But how does the first king become king?

Easy. The first king becomes a king by being stronger and more ruthless than anyone around him.  In other words, by being able to force other people to obey him.  Of course, once he is king, he tries to hide the force behind invented righteousness, and pretends that he is king because God appointed him such. Because brute force doesn't carry much moral authority.

The king himself is perfectly aware that God had nothing to do with his rise to power. And his close supporters also know that.

And the ordinary subjects of the king could easily deduce that too, so some serious propaganda and brainwashing is required in order to convince the ordinary people that their king has divine connections.

Enter religion.

Religion is built-in to human beings. People by nature look for a spiritual something which is bigger than themselves, something to help them make sense of their present world, and something to hope for after their present world ends. All this comes from God:

“He has set eternity in their heart” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

And since humans already have eternity in their hearts, it is no great task for someone to manipulate people's desire for eternity to their own ends. And the manipulating of the desire for eternity is called religion.

Now, the trouble with the religion God wants for people, is that it isn't there.  As Jesus said:

“God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

There are no things involved in God's religion. No rituals, no overseers, no set prayers, no artifacts, no fancy dress.  God's religion is simply a spiritual connection, or continuing conversation, with God. Which, generally, is too hard for people.

So the field of religion is wide open for Satan. Because while people want the eternity which God set in their hearts, they want it with rituals and rules and rigmarole. Things in which Satan specialises.

So did God get this religion thing all wrong?  Did He pick the wrong way to get everyone into His religion? Well He did if we assume He wants everyone to be in His religion.  Except He doesn't.  At least, not yet. As Jesus put it:

“No one can come to Me unless the Father who has sent Me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44)

And not only does God guard entry to His religion, He prevents people from even understanding that there is anything to enter:

"By hearing you shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see and shall not perceive; for this people's heart has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." (Matthew 13:14-15)

This doesn't mean that people can't have a connection with God, because anyone can have a connection with they God if they want to. But having a relationship with God is a completely separate matter from God's religion.

As we saw, religion is Satan's domain. And all the religions on the planet today, without exception, originated in that early time after the flood, when Cush and the ambitious Nimrod accepted Satan's offer to make them great.

The Cushite religion originated with the descendants of Ham while they were still in the areas not too far from the Ark, and the religion traveled with them to Egypt in the dispersion of Peleg's time.

In Egypt the young religion consolidated itself and grew strong, and when the Cushites moved back to Mesopotamia their religion went with them. From there it, and its variations,  eventually spread throughout the whole world.

The Cushite religion is sun-worship. And uncovering the roots of any religion on the planet, to this day, always reveals the sun.

For Satan, the sun was the obvious symbol to choose in order to delude people, because it already has the appearance of a god in the heavens. And because people know that it rules human life. The sun gives light and warmth and food from the ground, and every dawn banishes the fear and bondage of darkness.

Satan didn't initially present the sun as a god, of course. That would have been impossible in those early times when everyone had a clear knowledge of the real God and how He had saved humans in the Ark.  Noah and the other survivors were still alive and were testaments to the truth.

So in the beginning the religion wasn't a religion at all. It was just a regular thanksgiving to God and a commemoration of the events of the deluge and the saving of the Eight survivors.  The symbols and depictions used in the commemoration ceremonies of the deluge were just simple representations: a boat with a door in the side, a boat with people, a boat with the sun above it, a dove with an olive branch, a rainbow, and so on.

Nothing wrong with any of that, because in those earliest times the people knew that the symbols and pictures of the deluge were simply historical reminders of what had happened, and had no religious significance whatsoever.

Except Satan had plans.  Satan would take the harmless historical symbols and pictograms, and gradually, over time, turn them into representations of false gods and their invented activities.

In Satan's religious myths, Noah and his sons would eventually become the first gods, and the events of the deluge, now completely distorted, would become woven into the fabric of human religion.

The Ark itself would become representative of the beginning of life on earth - the mother of all things, and the representations we mentioned above would all be transformed into mystical symbols, with their original harmless meaning being completely lost.

For example. The depiction of the Ark was in some cases drawn as a simple boat, a crescent, looking just like a new moon. So over time, and distance from the Eight, the moon gradually came to be a symbol of the Ark, the mother of creation. Thus the moon entered Satan's religion and eventually became part of its mysteries.

Interestingly, there is a picture in the Book of Revelation of the Woman trampling this symbol of the religion of Satan:

“And there appeared a great sign in the heavens, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” (Revelation 12:1)

But back to the Cushites and Babylon.

Religion can teach people to get along with each other, but that isn't its principal purpose. The main purpose of religion is to give moral backing to whoever happens to be ruler.

Religion tells people that there is a heaven and a hell, and then tells them that they have to keep the rules in order to gain the one or avoid the other. And one of the rules is always that they have to do what they're told.

Nimrod had the power and ruthlessness needed to rule people, and now, through religion, he was able to present his regime as having divine approval.

We are talking here of Nimrod and his time, but this is the same throughout all time and all governments. The ruler and the religion play a circular game with the people they rule. Religion says that the ruler has God's approval and must be obeyed, and the ruler reciprocates by saying that religion has God's truth and must be obeyed. And disobeying either one very easily results in death.  This has always been how the ambitious maintain their control over the meek.

But as Jesus prophesied, all that is about to end:

“Blessed are the meek! For they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)

Satan knows this. He knows that the days of his ambitious human tools are almost over.

The human tools themselves don't know of course, because their lord is a liar. Their lord has told them they are leading the world into a great new era in which they will have complete and unfettered control over human beings.

But they are dupes. Their wisdom is not wisdom, but the deceptions of Satan. And their power is a wisp disappearing in the East wind.
