WHY DIDN'T JESUS DIE OF OLD AGE?   PART ONE

In the beginning there were two mighty supernatural Beings. Humans would later come to know them as God the Father and Jesus Christ.

Close to the beginning there was another mighty supernatural being, whom humans would later come to know as Satan.

God the Father and Jesus Christ, Who we will for the present call the Gods, desired to reproduce Themselves:

“And the Gods said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26)

However, there was a problem with what the Gods wanted to do.  Because They wanted to create beings like Themselves, beings who would be eternal. That is, beings who could not die and would live forever.

Well what's the problem? Just go ahead and make them.

The problem is that they would live forever.

Well what's the problem? Just go ahead and make them.

Well the problem is that beings who would live forever........would live forever.  And if they lived forever they couldn't be undone by dying.  Which is the problem with Satan - he can't be undone.

So the problem the Gods had, is that They might end up with a universe of haters.

One hater, by themselves, is not a problem. Because there is no one else to hate and the hate has nowhere to go and no one to damage.

But if there are two haters, both haters have a target to damage.  And if there's a whole universe of haters there is unlimited scope for unlimited damage.

So what to do?

Robots. Robots are the answer. Just make the new beings so that they can be programmed to not hate.  Except.....

Except if the beings were programmed in any way whatsoever, they wouldn't be independent and have a mind and personality of their own. They would just be doing, thinking and saying what they were told to. It would be like being locked up forever in a room full of politicians.

So what to do?

Well the solution the Gods decided on was to make Their offspring in two stages.

In the first stage the beings wouldn't be eternal. They could die if they weren't going to turn out right. If the first stage produced a being who was going to be a permanent hater, then there was the die switch to make sure the hate didn't have access to eternity.

So having decided on a safe, two-stage system, the Gods could begin the process of reproducing Themselves.

The first task was to make a place where the first stage could happen. And so:

“The Gods created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

And having made a place for them, the Gods then made the first, non-eternal, beings:

“And the Gods created man in Their image; in the image of Themselves They created him. They created them male and female.” (Genesis 1:27)

The first stage of the two-part process was simple. The humans would be taught how to behave properly, both to the Gods and to each other. If a human freely accepted that form of behaviour and freely and independently decided to make that behaviour their own, then the die switch would not be activated. A human being would be changed into an eternal being and could never be changed back.

Now, since it was the Gods who were reproducing Themselves, it was the Gods Who had the right to decide on the sort of behaviour They wanted in their offspring. That's just common sense.

The Scriptures put the sort of behaviour that the Gods required of humans into one symbolic example and say:

“And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, you may freely eat of every tree in the garden, but you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:16-17)

God was explaining the two-stage process to His potential offspring: Examine the way of behaviour I require, and either accept or reject it. If you freely accept it you will live forever. If you reject it you will die.

But now enter the hater - Satan.

For reasons unknown to humans, God had placed Satan in charge of planet earth, the place where humans were being raised in the first stage of reproduction as the Gods' offspring.

Satan is a hater. He always has been. He is a liar and a murderer:

“He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (John 8:44)

Satan saw what the Gods were doing on planet earth, and he hated it. He saw that the Gods were planning to share eternal life with new beings and he was determined to stop it.

Why? Why did Satan hate the idea of new eternal beings?  Well firstly, it is simply Satan's malevolent nature to hate and destroy. But secondly, it seems that humans were a potential threat to Satan's rule of planet earth.

Because Satan's rule of the earth was not unconditional. We know that by the fact that there is a time limit on his power:

“Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and in the sea! For the Devil came down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a little time.” (Revelation 12:12)

If he has but a little time, it means there is a definite limit to his rule.

But possibly, that time limit depended on a replacement being found for his rule. In other words, if no replacement were found for him, Satan could remain as ruler of the planet.

And possibly, that replacement would be a human being made eternal. That is, a human being who had lived on earth, but had been transformed into an eternal being.

That is not so speculative, because that's exactly what happened. As we'll see, a human being was in fact transformed into an eternal Being. And Satan has a limited tenure of power. Putting those two things together, it's a valid conclusion that Satan's rule of earth depended on whether a human replacement could be found.

And hence Satan's immediate attack on the first humans. If Satan could get them killed, then he could remain as ruler.

So:
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it so that God has said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?...And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die.” (Genesis 3:1,3)

The woman believed the liar, ate the fruit, and thus activated the die switch:

“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make wise, she took of its fruit, and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.” (Genesis 3:6)

What the humans had done couldn't be undone, and they would have to die.  Because God is not a liar.  If God decided that the humans could live, even though He had said they must die, then God's word would be worth exactly zero. And if God's word is meaningless then humans would be foolish to believe anything He ever said. Because having told one lie, God could never again be trusted.

So those first humans had to die. And likewise all their descendants, because all would embrace Satan's lies.

Satan had won, and it seemed that his rule of the earth was forever secure.  It was his delusion.
